School of Higher Vocational Education and Training (S.H.V.E.T.) of Aigio

The School of Higher Vocational Education and Training of Aigio (formerly a Public Institute of Vocational Training - IEK) was established in 1993 and is located in the educational complex on Xirolithion Street in Aigio, which also houses the Model Vocational High School (EPAL) and the Evening EPAL of Aigio.

S.H.V.E.T. offers post-secondary level vocational training to young people aged 18+ who wish to enter the labor market by developing their skills and enhancing their employability, as well as to professionals seeking to upgrade their qualifications in their current field of work.

For the training year 2024–2025:

  • Approximately 200 trainees participated across 18 departments.

  • Around 100 experienced instructors were employed.

  • Offered specializations included:

    • Early Childhood Education Assistant

    • Physiotherapy Assistant

    • Hospitality Management Staff

    • Refrigeration Systems Technician

    • Web Design and Development Technician

    • Computer Systems Technician

    • Electrical Installations Technician

    • Aesthetic & Makeup Art Technician

    • Pharmacy Assistant

    • Hairdressing Technician

    • Interior Architecture and Decoration Technician

    • Culinary Arts Technician – Chef

    • Museum and Archaeological Site Guard

Facilities & Collaborations

S.H.V.E.T. of Aigio provides:

  • Fully equipped IT and hairdressing labs

  • A multi-purpose hall for lectures, seminars, performances, and musical events

  • Access to all workshops (mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, electronics, physiotherapy, IT, hairdressing, aesthetics, etc.) of the cooperating 1st Laboratory Center of Aigio

Laboratory courses for Culinary Arts are conducted in collaboration with local businesses such as restaurants, hotels, bakeries, and catering services.

European Programs & Outreach

As part of its strategy for internationalization and outreach, S.H.V.E.T. of Aigio actively participates in Erasmus+ programs, undertaking:

  • Research and proposal drafting

  • Participation in and coordination of vocational training projects

  • Collaboration with domestic and international partners

  • Implementation and monitoring of EU-funded projects

The school’s administration supports instructor initiatives for innovation, field visits, volunteer blood drives, and any activities that promote engagement with the labor market and the local community.
